DC Asif Jameel briefs about death of children and services of government in Tharparkar.
MITHI -- The Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar Mohammad Asif Jameel in daily report submitted regarding the health care service, death and ongoing relief activities in drought affected Tharparkar district. He further said in his report that 106 children in gasping condition were admitted in different government hospitals at district and Taluka level. 32 children after being administered appropriate treatment and health cover have been discharged to their homes. Moreover, 56 children are under treatment at the hospitals. 466 children were also treated under OPD services extended by health facilities of Tharparkar under the administration of Health department. 491 children were also treated today in OPD of 31 BHUs and 18 Government Dispensaries under the administrative control of PPHI.
Five sick children admitted in the Hospital died due to multiple health complications. The death of children reported by Medical Superintendent Civil Hospital Mithi were attributed to multiple diseases which include Farhan s/o Talho Mehar age 06 days, resident of village Soonder Taluka Nagarparkar was born at BHU Khario Ghulam Shah by NVD with a weight of 2.2 kg.
The newborn was referred to the Civil Hospital Mithi on 19.02.2019 at 9:40 am, with history of Refusal of Feed, Dehydration and Lethargic. Protocol Therapy started Inj. Cefotaxime, Grasil, Ampicilin, Diazepam, I/V Fluid, N/G Feeding, Phototherapy, Vitamin -K, Zantac Aminophylline and, Adrenaline were given by the doctors and all hectic efforts were made, but the child could not survive and died on 20-02-2019 at 09:05 am due to Neo Natal Sepsis, Low Birth Weight and Acute Renal Failure.
Other baby D/o Peero Bheel, resident of village Malanhore Veena Taluka Mithi was delivered at the Civil Hospital Mithi before term (07 months Gestational age) with history of Delayed Cry after Birth, Preterm, Lethargic and Respiratory Distress Syndrome. Necessary treatment as per procedure was started i.e oxygen inhalation, injections Cefotaxime, Fortum, Grasil, Vitamin-K, Zantac, KCL, Calcium Gluconate and 1/V Fluid was given and all possible efforts were made by Doctors, but the child could not survive and expired on 20.02.2019 at 1:00 pm, due to Preterm, Neo Natal Sepsis, Low Birth Weight and Birth Asphyxia. Another boy of Hassan Chachar, resident of Mohammad Rahim Taluka Kunri District Umerkot was born by C-Section at Private Clinic Kunri with weight of 2.1 kg.
The child was brought in gasping condition at Civil Hospital Mithi on 20.02.2019 at 11:35 am with complaint of Severe Respiratory Distress, Hypothermia, and Cyanosed Poor Reflexes. Necessary treatment as per protocol therapy i.e oxygen inhalation, incubator therapy, Nubelization, Inj. Vitamin-K injections Fortum, Vancomycine, Zantac, 1/V Fluid with KCL and Calcium Gluconate was given and all possible efforts were made by Doctors, but the child could not survive and expired on 20.02.2019 at 2:20 pm due to Birth Asphyxia and Neonatal Sepsis and Low Birth Weight. Yet another boy namely Vijesh s/o Babu Meghwar aged 34 days from village Helario Pir Taluka Diplo weighing 3.5 kg delivered by NVD at BHU Verijhap was brought in gasping condition admitted at the Civil Hospital Mithi on 20.02.2019 at 5:30 pm with history of difficulty in Breathing and Cough.
Necessary treatment as per protocol therapy started i.e Oxygen Inhalation, Inj. Ceftrixone, Grasil, Adrenaline and CPR were given by Doctors and all hectic efforts were made, but the child could not survive and expired on 20-02-2019 at 06:25 pm due to Severe Pneumonia. Another girl Alishaba D/o Moharam Faqeer age 3 A1/2 months from Chhachhro Town weighing 2.2 kg baby delivered by NVD at Home was admitted in gasping condition at the Civil Hospital Mithi on 20.02.2019 at 3:10pm with history of Fever, loose motion and difficulty in Breathing. Necessary treatment as per procedure started i.e Oxygen Inhalation, Inj.
Ceftrixone, Grasil, Provas, Solocartif, I/V Fluid and F-75 feeding were given by Doctors and all hectic efforts were made, but the child could not survive and expired on 20-02-2019 at 11:15 pm due to Septicemia, FFT ( Failure to Thrive). The Livestock Department under the command of Deputy Director Livestock setup their veterinary camps in 10 villages of different talukas. Two camps in Taluka Islamkot, Kaloi, Nagarparkar and Dahli, one in Chachro and Diplo talukas were established. 81 animals were treated whereas 4243 animals were vaccinated and 4167 were also drenched in the said villages. The officials of the Population Welfare Department Tharparkar district setup special camps to spread awareness in 6 villages and held family planning sessions with 109 clients. Free wheat relief activities are in progress across the district.
On Thursday 1512 families were provided wheat under Phase-III. Moreover, 52 families of Phase-II also collected their 50 kg wheat bag. 12 families who had not collected wheat bags of Phase-I also approached their respective sentinel point and collected wheat bags. So far 247,734 families in Phase-I, 255,050 families in Phase-II and 211,274 families in Phase-III have received wheat bags at the scale of 50 kg per Head of Family. 3rd Phase of distribution of Ration Bags to pregnant and lactating women continues since 26.01.2019.
333 pregnant and lactating women were provided Ration Bags at their doorsteps on Thursday. Till date, 53,575 ration bags have been distributed in 3rd phase. So far 66,691 in Phase-II and 36656 in Phase-I has already been distributed. Government's initiative of distributing fodder to livestock owners has caught its pace in Taluka Islamkot. Till date 13,273 cattle owners provided fodder which includes 50 kg Vanda Feed and 25 kg Rice Polish.
