DAYTON'S, HUDSON'S AND MARSHALL FIELD'S KICKS OFF BACK-TO-SCHOOL SEASON
WITH KEY TRENDS AND NEW MERCHANDISE PROGRAM
MINNEAPOLIS, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Whether it's the western look, plaids or the menswear influence customers are looking for this year, they will be able to find it at Dayton's, Hudson's and Marshall Field's as the company kicks off the '92 back-to-school season. The Department Store Division of Dayton Hudson Corporation, which includes 62 Dayton's, Hudson's and Marshall Field's department stores in nine different states, will begin the back-to-school season with the introduction of "Kidswear," the company's new children's brand, during the week of Aug. 2.
The exclusive Kidswear collection will offer customers an assortment of high quality, value-oriented fashion basics for children. Kidswear items will feature comfort, durability, a high natural fiber content and ease of care. Rather than using numerical sizing, Kidswear merchandise will be sized as XXS, XS, S, M, L and XL. Sizing for Toddler items in the Kidswear program will remain the same at 2T, 3T and 4T. In the Infants area, merchandise sold under the Babywear label will also retain the current infant sizing system. Kidswear merchandise will be available at all Dayton's, Hudson's and Marshall Field's stores.
"Mad For Plaid" will be one of the key back-to-school trends highlighted this year in Childrens and Juniors, from pattern blocking to appliques, from plaid skirts to baseball jackets. Plaids will be represented in Young Mens as a layering piece with heavy-weight flannels over knits or as an outerwear piece.
The "Spirit of the West" will be seen with Native American-inspired color palettes, blanket coats and turquoise accents. Vests will become increasingly important whether it's suede fringe or tapestry styles. Denim and suede skirts, long and short, will be part of the western trend.
In Juniors, the "menswear" influence will be seen in boyfriend jackets and vests worn over trousers and accessorized with ties.
Colored denim in a more relaxed fit for comfort will be the focus this fall, ranging from hunter green to burgundy and brown. A brushed finish on the inside and outside of denim apparel contributes to the comfortable wear of the garment.
Customers will find a variety of assortments and key trends at Dayton's, Hudson's and Marshall Field's this back-to-school season.
