DAVID SHRIBMAN NAMED BOSTON GLOBE WASHINGTON BUREAU CHIEF

 BOSTON, Dec. 1 ~PRNewswire~ -- David Shribman, a political reporter for The Wall Street Journal, has been named Washington bureau chief and an assistant managing editor for The Boston Globe, Globe Editor John S. Driscoll announced Nov. 30.
 Shribman, 38, has covered politics, including Congress and the presidential elections, for the Journal since 1984. Before that, he served in the New York Times Washington Bureau for three years, with previous jobs at the Washington Star and Buffalo Evening News. He will join the Globe in early January.
 Shribman succeeds Michael Putzel, a veteran of White House and foreign affairs coverage, who will take on a senior reporting role in the bureau covering the new administration.
 A graduate of Swampscott High School and a summa cum laude graduate of Dartmouth College in 1976, Shribman was a James Reynolds Scholar at Oxford University in England. He is a native of Salem who delivered the Globe newspaper as a youth and who held summer reporting jobs at the Swampscott Reporter and the Salem News.
 In addition to his duties as bureau chief, he will write a weekly column on politics and government.
 Shribman is married to Cindy Skrzycki, a business reporter at The Washington Post. They live in Washington with their two daughters.
