DAVID SAXBY HIRED TO MANAGE SERVER BUSINESS
 WITHIN IBM PERSONAL COMPUTER COMPANY
SOMERS, N.Y., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- David Saxby, formerly of Parallan Computer Inc., has been hired to manage the server business within the newly established IBM Personal Computer Company.
Saxby brings over 15 years of experience in client/server computing to his new post at IBM. He was the senior vice president at Parallan, which has a strategic development alliance with IBM to develop leading- edge local area
network (LAN) servers. The first product to come out of the agreement announced in June is the IBM Server 295, a PC LAN server that offers multiple processors, fault tolerance, sophisticated system administration capabilities and large amounts of memory and disk storage.
"David Saxby's knowledge and expertise will add real strength to our server brand management team," said Robert J. Corrigan, president of the IBM Personal Computer Co. "Just as our line of PS/2 servers was enhanced by the addition of the Server 295, so too will our company's management team be bolstered by the infusion of talent of people like David from outside of IBM."
In his new position as director of servers, Saxby will have worldwide server development and planning responsibilities. He will work closely with server manufacturing and brand marketing executives to deliver worldclass LAN server solutions to customers. He will report to James G. Turner, PC director for PS/2 premium systems.
The IBM Personal Computer Co., established on Sept. 3, 1992, is dedicated to improving the user experience through innovative products, services and support. The company is organized around distinct brands to meet the needs of different customers at competitive prices.
The IBM Personal Computer Co. announced 21 new models of its PS/1 brand on Sept. 9. The company will continue rolling out new products by brand in the coming weeks.
