DAVID MARTIN NAMED PRESIDENT AND CEO OF BBDO'S PENTACOM UNIT

DETROIT, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- BBDO North America announced today that David Martin has been named President and CEO of PentaCom, the new entity designed to consolidate media planning and buying for Chrysler Corporation's Dodge, Jeep-Eagle and Chrysler/Plymouth Divisions. BBDO also confirmed that PentaCom will be the official name of the media organization.
According to BBDO North America Chairman and CEO Tom Clark, "We've known David Martin since he was a BBDO client while at Stroh Brewery and he played an integral role as a consultant to the team that formulated the PentaCom strategy. We feel it is strategically sound to bring in a chief executive who is outside of Chrysler's current agency structure and who will give us the `clean sheet' approach that PentaCom requires." John Damoose, Vice President of Marketing for Chrysler, added that "Mr. Martin's exceptional range of experience -- on the client, agency and media sides of the business -- makes him ideal to help us implement the vision we and BBDO share for PentaCom. The creation of PentaCom marks a whole new way of dealing with the media function and David Martin will provide exceptional leadership and direction in this effort."
Mr. Martin began his career in 1961 by founding Wall-Martin Advertising in Monterey, Calif. Two years later, he moved into the field of broadcasting, where he spent 13 years with Westinghouse, John Blair and the GE Broadcasting Company, in sales and marketing management, as well as in the acquisition of broadcast and cable properties. From 1976 through 1983, he worked in senior management positions at the media departments of the McCann Erickson advertising agency in New York and the Campbell Ewald agency in Detroit. He then spent seven years creating and heading the corporate media at Stroh Brewing Company, where he served on the company's board and on its marketing management committee. Since 1990, Mr. Martin has been President of Culmen Company, a marketing firm, and editor-at-large for Media Week magazine, where he publishes a regular column. He is a frequent speaker on media and marketing issues at conferences and seminars in the United States and Europe.
