 DAVID M. ALLEN NAMED MANAGING DIRECTOR, WARNER-MYCAL
 NEW YORK, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- David M. Allen has been named managing director of Warner-Mycal Corporation, the joint venture established by Nichii Co. and Warner Bros. said Chairman Toshimine Kobayashi of Nichii Co. and Salah Hassanein, president, Warner Bros. International Theatres Co. The joint venture was established in May, 1991 to build and operate 30 state-of-the-art multiplex movie theatres in Japan over the next five to seven years. Allen will be responsible for all operational issues relating to the management of the theatre chain. He will be headquartered in Tokyo.
 Plans for the first two theatres in Higashi Kishiwada, near Osaka, and Ebina, near Tokyo, are on schedule and the partners anticipate prompt start of construction with openings scheduled in the spring of 1993.
 In making the announcement, Kobayashi and Hassanein said: "David Allen's vast experience will ensure that our joint venture will offer the Japanese people greater access to movies and a unique state-of-the- art experience in movie going."
 Allen has more than twenty years experience in developing and managing successful cinema chains. He comes to the Nichii/Warner Bros. joint venture from Cineplex Odeon Corporation which he joined in 1984 as a result of the acquisition of Canadian Odeon Theatres Ltd. by Cineplex Corp. He was most recently responsible for the operation of 550 screens in 130 cinemas across Canada. He previously supervised the development of Cineplex Odeon's United Kingdom expansion and ran the North American Real Estate division. During his tenure at Canadian Odeon Theatres Ltd. from 1978 to 1984, he was executive vice president and secretary treasurer, responsible for all facets of the company's financial operations. From 1972 to 1977 he was vice president and general manager of the Canadian Theatres Group Ltd. which acquired Odeon Theatres in 1977.
 Allen, 49, earned a B.A. degree from McMaster University, Hamilton Ontario in 1967 and became a chartered accountant at the Institute of Chartered Accounts of Ontario in 1970.
