DAVE BUCKEL, VETERAN TV ANCHOR AND JOURNALIST, JOINS WILLIAM SILVERMAN & COMPANY AS DIRECTOR OF BROADCAST SERVICES

Dave Buckel Productions also affiliates with leading PR firm
CLEVELAND, Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Well-known WJW-TV8 anchor Dave Buckel is joining the staff of William Silverman & Company as director of broadcast services on Oct. 18.
Buckel, a 25-year veteran of WJW-TV8 and a member of the Broadcasters Hall of Fame, is joining one of Ohio's largest public relations firms to expand its TV and video production capabilities. In addition, Dave Buckel Productions, an independent video production company that Buckel founded 10 years ago with his wife, Marilyn, will also be affiliated with William Silverman & Company (WS&CO).
"My decision to leave a long and rewarding relationship at Channel 8 was due in large part to my positive experience over the years in dealing with the Silverman organization," said Buckel. "I have great respect for the firm and the high quality of public relations it practices. I have known and respected Bill Silverman for many years, and consider him among the best in this profession. I also have great confidence in the firm's new ownership, which has great plans for the future."
Added Buckel: "Leaving Channel 8 was the toughest decision of my professional life because of my many deep friendships, especially with Virgil Dominic. But I am looking forward to this new challenge with great enthusiasm."
Said WS&CO President and Chief Executive Officer Diane Fusco: "Dave Buckel offers a TV and video expertise that adds a whole new dimension to our firm. He is one of the most respected TV journalists in Ohio, and we couldn't be more pleased that he's joining us."
As director of broadcast services, Buckel will direct WS&CO's television and media training services. In addition, he will be responsible for TV media relations on behalf of WS&CO clients.
The affiliation between WS&CO and Dave Buckel Productions will allow the two companies to expand the variety of TV and video services, including Video News Releases and public affairs programming, for current and future clients.
Buckel, 55, has more than 38 years of news experience. In 1990, he was elected to the Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Before joining TV-8 in 1968, he served as news director of WEWS TV-5 in Cleveland and was news director at WHOT radio in Youngstown, Ohio, and a newspaper columnist in Erie, Pa.
William Silverman & Company is one of Ohio's largest and most well- known public relations firms. The 25-year-old firm offers its clients complete capabilities in corporate communications, crisis counseling and public affairs. WS&CO was recently chosen by "Inside PR" as one of the nation's "Six P.R. Firms to Watch." With offices in Cleveland, and Charleston, W.Va., WS&CO projects its 1993 fee income at $3 million making it one of the largest independent public relations firms in the Midwest.
