DATEQ INFORMATION NETWORK REACTS TO ACXIOM/ALLSTATE AGREEMENT

DATEQ INFORMATION NETWORK REACTS TO ACXIOM/ALLSTATE AGREEMENT
NORCROSS, Ga., Sept. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- DATEQ Information Network, Inc. (NASDAQ: DATQ) said today that it is analyzing the potential impact of Acxiom Corporation's (NASDAQ: ACXM) new five-year contract to provide outsourcing services to Allstate Insurance Company. A significant percentage of DATEQ's revenues is currently derived from sales of motor vehicle reports (MVRs) and other information products to a number of Allstate's regional offices, which currently have their own separate contracts with DATEQ for these purchases.
According to an 8-K filed by Acxiom recently with the SEC, Acxiom services to Allstate will include the purchasing and processing of information products used in support of underwriting activities, centralizing these functions which were previously handled through Allstate's regional offices. The products will be purchased by Acxiom from third party providers. A Sept. 11 Dow Jones story states that the Allstate/Acxiom agreement is expected to take 12 to 24 months to become fully operational.
DATEQ's President, Robert L. Stanley, stated that Allstate's decision to centralize its purchasing activity could have adverse consequences for DATEQ but could also turn out to be a very positive development. Centralizing the purchasing functions places considerable economic power in a single office on behalf of Allstate. This development will, however, enable DATEQ to focus its Allstate marketing at Acxiom rather tan Allstate's many regional offices. Stanley also stated that DATEQ has been working with Acxiom for the past four months and is presently providing information products to two regions of Allstate through Acxiom.
Headquartered in Norcross, Ga., DATEQ Information Network, Inc. provides information for use in support of the underwriting activities of automobile insurance companies. Through its centralized information network, DATEQ provides automobile insurers with motor vehicle reports, licensed driver reports and registered vehicle reports on applicants.
