DATATRONIX FINANCIAL SERVICES REPORTS 1993 FIRST QUARTER RESULTS

SAN DIEGO, April 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Datatronix Financial Services (over the counter) today announced first quarter 1993 net earnings of $167,000, or $.42 per share, compared with net earnings of $28,000, or $.07 per share, in the first quarter of last year.
Total revenue for the quarter was $3.11 million, a 24 percent increase over the $2.52 million in revenue in the first quarter of 1992.
Michael Trefero, Datatronix president, said, "We are very pleased with our first quarter results. Our expansion state-wide and our sales programs are paying off, and, for the first time, our quarterly revenues exceeded $3 million."
Datatronix's expense control efforts also paid off in the first quarter. While expenses increased from 1992 to 1993 to support a higher volume of business, total expenses were 91.5 percent of total revenues in the first quarter of 1993 compared with 98.5 percent a year ago.
"Revenue growth and cost management have been the cornerstones of our strategy for the last two years," said Trefero. "As California's economy turns around, the financial institution industry recovers, and our marketing efforts continue to pay off, we expect to see continued improvements."
Datatronix Financial Services is a full-service check and financial item processor for financial institutions. Headquartered in San Diego, the company operates facilities in San Diego, Costa Mesa, Glendale, Riverside, and San Leandro, Calif.
Milwaukee-based FIserv Inc. (NASDAQ: FISV) and Datatronix recently announced that the two companies had reached an agreement in principle for the acquisition of Datatronix by FIserv.
