DATARAM REPORTS SECOND QUARTER '94 RESULTS

PRINCETON, N.J., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Dataram Corporation (AMEX: DTM), a developer, manufacturer and marketer of quality computer memory products, today reported financial results for the second quarter and six months of fiscal 1994.
Revenues for the second quarter ended Oct. 31, 1993, were $21.9 million, a 62 percent increase over the $13.5 million reported for the comparable prior-year period. Net earnings were $1,019,000 or $.26 per share, 15 percent above the $889,000 or $.23 per share for the prior year period.
For the six-month period ended Oct. 31, 1993, revenues increased 71 percent to $41.0 million compared to the $24.0 million achieved in the year-earlier period. Net earnings rose 54 percent to $1,643,000, or $.41 per share, vs. the $1,065,000, or $.28 per share reported for the comparable period.
Dataram's computer memory products continue to be well received by users of workstations, servers and minicomputers, according to Robert V. Tarantino, president and chief executive officer. However, the tight supply of DRAM chips -- the company's major cost component -- continues to plague the industry, resulting in product allocations, erratic deliveries and escalating prices on most chips.
"We don't expect DRAM chip prices to return to traditional levels in the foreseeable future," Tarantino stated. "We initiated two price increases within the past four months to recover some of our costs, but intensified competition and industry wide price-cutting prompted us to rescind the last price increase in order to protect our market share."
Looking ahead, Tarantino said the company will begin shipping a major new product in the third quarter to complement Dataram's memory product line. The product is called the DATARAID(TM) family of disk array storage subsystems for the DEC, HP and Sun markets.
"While DATARAID(TM) won't have an impact on third quarter earnings, we believe the product line will favorably influence fourth quarter financial performance and become an important contributor to Dataram's future," Tarantino declared.
