DATAQUEST STUDY RANKS APPLICON ON TOP IN INTEGRATED DESIGN AUTOMATION

ANN ARBOR, Mich., July 20 /PRNewswire/ -- In a recent study by Dataquest (San Jose, Calif.) to determine the overall use of all major CAD/CAM/CAE mechanical applications worldwide, Applicon was given the highest ratings in providing top-notch design automation solutions.
According to the study, "Applicon came out on top because more than 95 percent of its sites are doing drafting, design, and manufacturing, as well as a high percent that are doing analysis and product data management."
In a Dataquest chart titled "Leading Vendors by Subapplication," Applicon was ranked as having 96.6 percent of its surveyed customers using Bravo manufacturing solutions, far above all other leading mechanical CAD/CAM/CAE software vendors. The next highest in manufacturing product usage was Matra Datavision, with 60 percent. Computervision was ranked at 45.8 percent; EDS Unigraphics, 52.9 percent; and Parametric Technology, 15.4 percent.
Frank Stefanik, vice president of Marketing and Business Development at Applicon, emphasized the importance of manufacturing development in the company's strategic product plan. "Today's customers want a comprehensive solution that can actually machine and manufacture the part that is designed with solid modeling technology. Time and time again, customers have dramatically decreased their time to market with Applicon's integrated manufacturing, analysis and data management solutions," Mr. Stefanik said.
In the recent Bravo Version 4 Plus release, Applicon's manufacturing products have taken a leap with its single-session millturn capabilities. Mr. Stefanik added: "No other CAD/CAM vendor provides millturn functionality that allows users to visualize milling and turning together."
