DATAPOINT APPOINTS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

SAN ANTONIO, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Datapoint Corporation (NYSE: DPT) today announced the appointment of Doris D. Bencsik as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
In addition to overseeing product development and manufacturing, her direct responsibilities include U.S. sales as well as the corporate support functions. As a member of the executive committee, Bencsik shares the responsibility for all other operations of the company with Asher Edelman, chairman.
A member of the Datapoint board of directors since 1985, Bencsik rejoins the company after managing a successful consulting practice which focused on companies that were in a state of transition. For a period, she will also continue as CEO and president of Modular Computer Systems Inc., located in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Throughout her earlier tenure at Datapoint, Bencsik held a number of senior management positions including acting chief executive officer and president, after which she became a member of the Office of the President until her resignation in 1987.
In announcing Bencsik's appointment, Datapoint Chairman Asher B. Edelman said, "We welcome Doris back to Datapoint. In addition to her extensive background with firms such as Data General, Honeywell, and RCA, Doris' hands-on experience with our operations is expected to make a significant contribution to Datapoint's success and momentum."
The company also announced today that it has formally approved Chairman Asher B. Edelman as Datapoint's chief executive officer.
