DATA I/O: PS FOCUS AIMS AT DESIGNERS' CONCERNS; INDUSTRY ALLIANCE TO DISCLOSE RESEARCH FINDINGS AT DAC PRESS CONFERENCE

REDMOND, Wash., May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Putting the interests of its customers first, Data I/O Corp. (NASDAQ-NMS: DAIO), the leader in universal tools for logic design, today announced that it has convened PS FOCUS, an industry group dedicated to listening to and resolving the needs of users of complex programmable logic devices (PLD). Charter members include the presidents of silicon vendors Actel, Altera, QuickLogic and Xilinx, as well as Data I/O President Tom Clark. PS FOCUS will host a press conference at this year's Design Automation Conference (DAC) on Tuesday, June 15, at 12 p.m. to discuss the results of its extensive end-user research. Speakers will include John East, Actel president and chief executive officer; Rodney Smith, Altera chairman, president and chief executive officer; Tom Clark, Data I/O president and chief executive officer; David Laws, QuickLogic president and chief executive officer; and Wes Patterson, Xilinx executive vice president and chief operating officer.
"We first envisioned PS FOCUS early this year simply as a way to work more closely with the vendors of programmable silicon in improving the design tools available to FPGA and PLD designers," said Clark. "The group, as it exists today, reflects what we've learned from our discussions with scores of customers and other device end-users -- on-going, open, mutual exchanges of information is the only route to resolving the outstanding issues that face designers today."
PS FOCUS provides its participants with a forum for gathering input from end-users and for working together on every level -- from management to engineering to operations -- to provide a universal solution offering better tool integration and timely device support. PS FOCUS members stress that the alliance represents a long-term commitment, a new business model for how the industry as a whole will attract and support users of complex logic devices as the industry and the marketplace grows. Clark added, "Five years from now PS FOCUS will still be listening to the concerns of logic designers."
