DATA BROADCASTING CORPORATION ANNOUNCES REDEMPTION OF SERIES A SENIOR NOTES

 NEW YORK, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Data Broadcasting Corporation (NASDAQ: DBCC) announced it will redeem all outstanding Series A Senior Secured Notes as of May 1, 1993. The principal amount of such notes currently totals approximately $2.4 million and was payable over the next five years. The combination of this announced prepayment plus previous paydowns will have reduced DBC's long-term note indebtedness to $8.3 million from $16.4 million outstanding at July 1, 1992.
 Alan Hirschfield and Allan Tessler, DBC's co-chief executives, said: "We are gratified that DBC can prepay these notes. This redemption demonstrates the strength of our present financial position and will afford the company greater flexibility in pursuing business opportunities."
