DARREN FULLERTON: Eric Cantona.

Byline: DARREN FULLERTON

A LOT has been made of the 10th anniversary of Eric Cantona's kung-fu kick on Crystal Palace fan Matthew Simmons at Selhurst Park in 1995.

In the run-up to Manchester United's game with Palace at the weekend, all the relevant facts were revisited - Cantona was fined pounds 20,000, banned for nine months, forced to serve 120 hours community service, he called the press "a flock of seagulls following the trawler" blah, blah, blah...

Did you know though that when Cantona jumped into the Selhurst stand like John Prescott on the Labour campaign trail The Rednex were at No1 in the charts with Cotton Eye Joe?

My sincerest sympathy if you did.
