DAPPY FACES THREE YEARS IN PRISON; Rapper guilty over scrap.
N-DUBZ rapper Dappy could face up to three years in jail after he was found guilty yesterday of sparking a mob brawl outside a petrol station.
A jury decided the star, real name Costadinos Contostavlos, spat at a young man and started a punch-up after the victim went to the defence of two 18-year-old girls Dappy had tried to chat up.
The victim, David Jenkins, 24, lost multiple teeth in the row and needed hours of painful dental surgery. n l Dappy, 25, claimed he had been "victimised" because he was a celebrity and looked at the ground in disbelief when he was found guilty of affray and assault. d After leaving court the rapper - who is the cousin and bandmate of X Factor judge Tulisa - wrote on Twitter: "Not guilty For spitting at the Females but Guilty for defending myself from the 3 Males!!!!#ThisAintRight."
Dappy, whose hits include Good Intentions and No Regrets, will be sentenced with a friend on February 15. The maximum jail term for affray is three years.
He was cleared of two separate charges of spitting at the two girls, Serena Burton and Grace Cochran, who are now 19. The fight in February last year started when the rapper became angry because the pair did not recognise him. He tried to get the teenagers, who he called "sexy ladies", to get in his Peugeot but they refused, calling him "boring".
An enraged Dappy then hurled abuse at the girls, the court was told, before spitting at Mr Jenkins when he went to help them.
When Mr Jenkins put Dappy in a headlock to calm him, the rapper's friends joined in.
CCTV showed they punched and kicked Mr Jenkins and his pals, Christopher Gibson and Oliver Billson.
Prosecutor Brian Stork described the attack as a "mob brawl".
Mr Gibson suffered a broken nose and Mr Billson ended up with a black eye at the Shell garage in Guildford, Surrey, in the early hours. Dappy was tried alongside his girlfriend's brother Kieran Vassell, 25, of Hammersmith, West London, and personal chef Kalonji Stewart, 32, of Harborne, Birmingham.
Vassell was found guilty of affray; Stewart was cleared.
The star, of Camden, North London, and Vassell were granted unconditional bail.
The judge, at Guildford crown court, said: "The reason bail has been extended is no indication of what the sentence will be." He added: "One of the matters I have to consider is the issue of compensation."
