DAN D. CERUTTI JOINS WANG AS VICE PRESIDENT
DAN D. CERUTTI JOINS WANG AS VICE PRESIDENT LOWELL, Mass., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Wang Laboratories, Inc.
(AMEX: WAN), announced today that Dan D. Cerutti has joined the company as vice president, open systems development. Cerutti will be responsible for leading the company's efforts in developing information processing solutions for industry-standard platforms, including the Wang RISC Series product family, which is sourced from IBM's RISC System/6000 UNIX-based product line. Cerutti will report to Donald P. Casey, executive vice president and chief development officer. He will be responsible for workflow products, host image development, client/server imaging, OPEN/office, and advanced technology and information management.
An 11-year veteran of IBM, Cerutti most recently served as that company's director of multi-media systems technology. In addition, Cerutti served as the AIX System Manager and the AIX Product Manager for the RISC System/6000 development project. Cerutti was involved in that project from its inception and was responsible for management of overall software content and architecture, as well as shipment of the AIX base product. AIX is the widely-accepted IBM version of UNIX. Cerutti also participated in the formation of the Open Software Foundation and was the IBM manager responsible for fulfilling IBM's commitments to this project. In addition, he was instrumental in the creation of the widely accepted OSF Distributed Computing Environment. Casey said, "Dan's career includes virtually every aspect of open systems and distributed computing, and he is credited as one of the pioneers of open systems development at IBM. His experience and leadership will contribute greatly to our OFFICE 2000 strategy of offering customers Wang's industry-leading solutions, such as imaging, an open platforms." Cerutti said, "Wang has chosen IBM's RISC System/6000 technology to complement the VS as its open systems platforms of preference for OFFICE 2000 solutions.
