DAMIAN GREEN SET TO BE CLEARED IN 'WHITEWASH'.
Byline: EXCLUSIVE BY BEN GLAZE Deputy Political Editor
A PROBE expected to clear Damian Green of web porn and inappropriate behaviour was branded a whitewash last night.
The First Secretary of State, who is Theresa May's closest ally, could learn his fate today, when Westminster is focused on the latest EU Bill. Allies of Kate Maltby, who accuses Mr Green of touching her knee and sending a suggestive text, last night expressed fears the Cabinet Office inquiry had been created by the PM to only examine breaches of the Ministerial Code. "It was always set up to be a whitewash," said a pal.
Mr Green, 61, is also set to be cleared over computer porn claims.
He said he'd known Ms Maltby, 30 years his junior, since 2014 and they met as friends "twice-yearly" since.
But a photo published last month shows them together in 2013.
Green denies Ms Maltby's claims, which prompted the inquiry, that he touched her knee in a pub in 2015, while discussing her political career.
