As the 7.30am news came on the radio, the 'open' sign was turned over with military precision.
Inside, you'll find a homely place with benches and tables - and even children's toys if you go there en famille.
The menu blackboard at the back is very hard to read when you are in a rush but as the first customer of the day I played safe and ordered a latte (PS2.40) and bacon butty (PS2.40) to go.
The bread supplier hadn't turned up on time but my server had a super solution - bacon on toast!
Same difference to me. No sauce required, just a bit of butter.
A lovely latte | And what a belter of a toasted bacon butty this was. The meat was tender and tasty and not overdone, the bread nice and crispy to match.
The perfect combo and a delightful way to the get the working week off to a full-strength, flying start.
My latte was served in a purple paper cup. With a rich, deep but not at all bitter taste, the coffee was as good as any I've had all year and came with an artisan, heartshaped motif.
The service was ultra polite and friendly. The first three customers who followed me in within the next five minutes were all greeted by their first names. Now that's a way to make people regular.
