A European research project (EU-COST-G6) held a series of workshops on DAFX (a synonym of "digital audio effects," according to the preface) between 1997 and 2001, and the first edition of this reference (2002) arose from those gatherings; this second edition incorporates substantial new developments as reported at subsequent workshops. After an introductory chapter on the fundamentals of digital signal processing and classifications of DAFX, coverage includes filters and delays; modulators and demodulators; nonlinear processing; spatial effects; time-segment, time-frequency, and source-filter processing; adaptive digital audio effects; spectral processing; virtual analog effects; and sound source separation. A glossary rounds out the reference.
