DAB beer debuts in Baltimore & D.C.

DAB (Dortmunder Actien Brauerei) German beer recently made its debut in the Baltimore-Washington, D.C., area.

To mark the occasion, DAB Importers, which imports and markets the beer in the U.S., hosted a gala dinner party for 400 of the region's retailers at Blob's Park in Jessup, MD, the "birthplace of the American Octoberfest."

In an effort to expand distribution along the East Coast, DAB has been using a variety of promotional techniques. In February, DAB served as a sponsor of the National Ice Carving Championships at the Mount Laurel Resort in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains.

Prize money donated by DAB enabled Mark Daukas to return to his Newport Beach, CA, ice carving business with a check for $5,000 and a first-place trophy. An additional $5,000 was distributed among other contestants.

The DAB Brewery is the largest of the breweries in Dortmund, Germany, one of the top beer capitals in Europe. DAB is sold in 80 countries throughout the world and is the third largest selling German import in the U.S.
