Electronic Communications Change the Face of the
 American Political Process
RALEIGH, N.C., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Da Vinci Systems, a leading vendor of commercial electronic messaging systems, announced today that it is offering a version of its popular Da Vinci eMAIL software to any offices of all major presidential election candidates for a nominal cost. The company intends to clearly illustrate the benefits of applied computer technology outside its accepted use in the traditional business sector. The application of E-Mail will improve the speed and efficiency of communications over traditional tools such as telephones, facsimile machines and postal mail in the presidential race.
"If I were a candidate, I'd get E-Mail going with 1,000 people -- each of whom would know 10 other people," said David Paletz, in a telephone interview. Paletz is a Duke University political science professor who specializes in the media and politics.
The software for this offer is Da Vinci eMAIL 2.0 for MS-DOS. Da Vinci eMAIL works on any IBM or IBM-compatible personal computers. Also included is MHS (Message Handling Service), an industry- acknowledged standard that consists of software that gives E-Mail users the ability to talk to each other over telephone lines and modems.
"Using Da Vinci eMAIL, people involved in all aspects of an election campaign can send memos, information and documents with any networked personal computer, remote PC or laptop through a telephone line," said Chris Evans, vice president of marketing for Da Vinci Systems.
Campaign organizaitons can purchase ten user starter kits of Da Vinci eMAIL with MHS for a nominal fee of $99.95 per copy. When sold regularly, the original software is valued at almost $700.
