D.R. HORTON, INC. REPORTS FIRST QUARTER NEW SALES ORDERS INCREASE OF 83 PERCENT AND BACKLOG INCREASE OF 87 PERCENT

 ARLINGTON, Texas, Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- D.R. Horton, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: DRHI) today reported an 83 percent increase in net sales contracts signed during the three months ended Dec. 31, 1993, over the same period of 1992. Net sales contracts for the first quarter of fiscal 1994 totaled $81.2 million (474 homes), compared to $44.2 million (262 homes) for the same quarter of 1992. The company's backlog of homes under contract at Dec. 31, 1993 increased 87 percent to $124.5 million (710 homes) from $65.5 million (363 homes) at Dec. 31, 1992.
