D-side are on the up side.

THEY might be just five normal lads but don't underestimate D-Side.They're the latest boy band from Ireland and with one UK Top 10 hit under their belts already, they have worldwide fame and success in their sights. To be fair, those who have compared D-Side to Westlife have got a bit to go on.They'reboth boy bands who got together themselves, not through a manufactured audition process. They'reboth from Ireland. They've both got five members.

``We get compared to U2 more often,''quips 21-year-oldDamien Bowe.``No, we do get compared to Westlife a lot but we take it as a good thing because they've been so successful.''

``But when people come to see us live they'll see a completely different show,''continues 19-year-oldRyan O'Riain.``There's a lot more dancing from us. ``When we started out we would have done anything to have been compared to Westlife, so it's great to hear it,''concedes 20-year-oldDane Guiden.``If we follow in their footsteps, excellent -but what we do is very different.''

There's another matter that the boys want to get cleared up as well - their supposed rivalry with fellow new boy band on the block,Triple Eight. ``There could be this rivalry between us in the press but we just can't be bothered,'' says Damien.``We could have organ- is ed a scrap but we haven't.We might do though -get some publicity for the single Invisible.''

And what next? World do mina -tion. ``We want to go every-where,'' says DerekMoran,18. ``We're going to Japan at the end of the year. Then there's Ameri-ca,Australia,Mongolia even. Why not? The whole lot!''
