D-REAMS OF GLORY.
Henry Cecil's filly finished in sixth place behind stable companion Sleepytime in the 1,000 Guineas for which she did not have the best of preparations.
She suffered with the cough in the Spring and almost certainly needed that run at Newmarket.
The fast early pace was also too much for her and she will certainly be a different proposition over this longer trip.
Pat Eddery was not hard on the filly when her chance had gone and Kieren Fallon was pleased with the piece of work she did on the gallops on Saturday.
"She has come on well since the Guineas and I am sure she will give a lot better performance at York," said Fallon.
The Oaks ante-post betting is wide open this morning but if Reams Of Verse comes up to scratch this afternoon the bookies will soon be shortening her odds of 7-1.
Ben Hanbury's Derby hope Fahris looks doubtful for the Epsom classic on June 7.
The Generous colt has had a setback and Hanbury said: "He needs to be back in work before the weekend otherwise it will be too late for Epsom. It's touch and go."
Super-star Helisssio is another absentee from the Coronation Stakes on Oaks day. He has been coughing and his next target is the King George at Ascot in July.
John Gosden's Tamure finished third to Surgeon at Chantilly yesterday.
Frankie Dettori tried to make all on the 1995 Derby second, but the combination could only stay on at one pace. Dettori said: ""The ground wasn't soft enough for Tamure.""
