TELECOMWORLDWIRE-15 July 2005-D-Link unveils DES-1526 PoE switch(C)1994-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD

A new Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch, the DES-1526, has been unveiled by networking and communications solutions provider D-Link.

D-Link said the switch acts as a central power source by transmitting power through standard network cabling, allowing small and medium-sized businesses to combine a 10/100Mbps switch with PoE. The DES-1526 is reported to be suitable for offices, hospitals, factories and schools and can also be used in locations such as airports, hotels and marinas, when multiple access points for public Wi-Fi deployment are needed. A diagnostic LED is said to enable problems to be found and resolved promptly.

The DES-1526 offers a 24-port 10/100Mbps smart switch with PoE and two 10/100/1000BASE-T/SFP (Mini-GBIC) combo ports, with all ports supporting PoE to 802.3af standard. Other features include port mirroring, port trunking, 802.1Q VLAN, web-based configuration, SNMP support and traffic prioritisation (802.1p) with port-based QoS. The DES-1526 is available this month and priced at GBP466.83 +VAT.
