D'ALESSANDRO NAMED CONTROLLER AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTING OFFICER AT UST
 GREENWICH, Conn., Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert T. D'Alessandro has been elected controller and principal accounting officer at UST Inc. (NYSE: UST), the company announced today. In his new position, D'Alessandro will be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, general accounting and tax compliance for the company. He will continue to report to John J. Bucchignano, executive vice president and chief financial officer.
 From April 1990 until his election as controller, D'Alessandro served as assistant controller. Prior to being named assistant controller, D'Alessandro served as director of corporate accounting and controls, a position he held from November 1987. He joined the company in 1981 as assistant accounting manager.
 D'Alessandro earned an M.B.A. from Pace University and is a certified public accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Financial Executives Institute, and the New York State Society of CPAs.
 He resides in Wilton, Conn., with his wife Christine and their three children.
 UST, through its subsidiaries, is a leading producer and marketer of moist smokeless tobacco products including Copenhagen, Skoal, Skoal Long Cut, and Skoal Bandits. Other consumer products marketed by UST subsidiaries include premium wines sold nationally through the Chateau Ste. Michelle, Columbia Crest, Conn Creek, and Villa Mt. Eden wineries.
