D&B AND EQUIFAX FORM ALLIANCE TO ENHANCE PREDICTIVE INFORMATION ON SMALL BUSINESS

MURRAY HILL, N.J., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Dun & Bradstreet Information Services-North America and Equifax Inc. (NYSE: EFX), two leading marketers of information and related services, announced today that they have formed a strategic alliance that will leverage their respective data and technologies.
Together the companies plan to design unique solutions for small business risk assessment and jointly develop new products and services.
The alliance will produce credit scores on most small businesses in the U.S. by next year. As part of this initiative, D&B will develop a model that Equifax will apply to its information on business principals and produce a small-business credit score for D&B to deliver to its customers.
"Through our alliance with Equifax we expect to further enhance our predictive information by increasing the number of Credit Scores we offer on small businesses," said Frank S. Sowinski, executive vice president of Marketing and Analytical Services at D&B. "In addition to this new information, we expect this alliance to open doors and allow us to develop and distribute new, more sophisticated risk management tools that will help our customers make more profitable decisions."
"This is a powerful partnership in which Equifax becomes the provider of information to enhance D&B's predictive capabilities," said Thomas F. Chapman, executive vice president and group executive for Equifax Financial Information Services. "We are very pleased with this alliance which provides a terrific foundation for developing unique capabilities and, more importantly, customized information-driven solutions for customers, initially in the U.S. and, perhaps later, elsewhere."
Although the revenue-related terms of the agreement are not being disclosed, the arrangement calls for the alliance to run through the end of 1998 with automatic five-year renewals thereafter.
