The central bank in Cyprus has said that it could lift capital controls in the nation by the end of the year.

The bank said that it could lift controls if it makes sufficient progress following the adoption of an international bailout programme.

Governor Panicos Demetriades, said, 'That is expected to happen, if all goes well, by the end of the year.'
