CyberPlus Corporation, MEDITECH and EMC's Data General Division Provide Decision Support Solution at Delnor-Community Hospital.

Business/Technology Editors

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 11, 2000

Fast and easy access to information facilitates more efficient

healthcare business operations

CyberPlus Corporation, a leading supplier of medical Knowledge Management tools, along with MEDITECH, a leader in healthcare information systems technology since 1969 and Data General, a Division of EMC, today announced the installation of the CyberView application at Delnor-Community Hospital in Geneva, Ill. Delnor-Community Hospital is a progressive hospital serving the suburbs of Chicago.

Delnor-Community Hospital had converted from Best-of-Breed, disparate, stand-alone systems to MEDITECH's integrated solution, including the MEDITECH Data Repository, in September 1997. "MEDITECH made it easy to get at the data. We needed a tool that would intelligently and easily translate that data into useful information. Armed with detailed information that would make negotiating managed care contracts and justifying resources easier, the hospital is able to make quick and informed decisions that guide our organization," said Hasi Smith, director of information systems at Delnor-Community Hospital.

"Importing data to an application can be technically difficult, CyberView was our choice as the front-end to our data repository based on functionality, integration and user friendliness, with little overhead," said Smith.

"This bundled healthcare solution offers quick access to information that is easy to use and easy to absorb," said Michael Kittoe, chief financial officer, of Delnor-Community Hospital.

CyberView is a unique Data Visualization tool that enables healthcare professionals to make better decisions in managing the operations of their organizations. Healthcare professionals are now able to obtain information quickly on their organization's performance. Available views include Census statistics, Critical Success Factors, Report Cards, Physicians performance review, Case Mix, Human Resources monitoring, financial data analyses, and various Departmental statistics. In addition, healthcare organizations are able to use CyberView to create presentations of data marts developed internally. CyberView allows users to customize and personalize the presentation of information supporting their own thought process and out-of-the-box connectivity to MEDITECH'S Data Repository.

Easy Access to Information

Data General provided Delnor-Community Hospital with an enhancement to their decision support and business intelligence, which, as part of Delnor Hospital's bundled healthcare solution, includes CyberView and MEDITECH software. This solution also provides EMC CLARiiON(R) midrange storage systems offering fast, uninterrupted access to valuable database information and superior data integrity. Additionally, Data General AViiON(R) servers provide Delnor Hospital with a highly-reliable business continuance solution. Data General also supplied professional services and training, in association with CyberPlus, during the solution implementation.
