Custom Publishing Council Honors Penton Custom Media with Six Pearl Awards for Editorial and Design Excellence.

CLEVELAND -- Penton Custom Media, a division of Penton Media, Inc. (OTCBB:PTON), earned an astounding six Pearl Awards, including two coveted gold awards for its work on the American Red Cross' commemorative 125th Anniversary publication. The awards, presented by the Custom Publishing Council (CPC), recognize the best of the best in editorial, design and strategy of custom print and electronic media, and have come to signify the measure of excellence in both B2C and B2B custom publishing.

For the third consecutive year, the CPC assembled a team of judges to review submissions from a veritable who's who in custom publishing. More than 60 companies enrolled a total of 455 entries for this year's Pearl Awards.

The American Red Cross publication, The Changing Face of Help, a 68-page booklet chronicling the organization's first 125 years, was developed and produced through a partnership with Penton Custom Media. The piece, which features a perfect blend of compelling stories and emotional photos, earned gold Pearl Awards for Excellence in Editorial in the Best New Publication/Other category as well as Best Overall Editorial. The publication also took home a silver and a bronze Pearl Award for Excellence in Design in the Best New Publication/Other and Best Cover categories, respectively.

In addition, Penton Custom Media grabbed a silver Pearl Award for Excellence in Editorial in the Best New Publication/Web category for its work on the York Webcast Series in conjunction with Contracting Business and HVACR Distribution Business magazines. The 12-course, educational series sponsored by York, a division of Johnson Controls, targeted independent heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractors and helped position York as an innovative leader in contractor training. Each one-hour webcast focused on a different topic designed to give contractors the confidence and skills to successfully "up sell" home comfort systems.

Penton also picked up a bronze for Editorial Excellence in the Best Special Feature category for Military Communities of Excellence, an annual supplement to Expansion Management magazine. Published for the U.S. Department of Defense for use by military personnel and their families living in civilian communities where there is a U.S. Military base, the publication provides up-to-date statistical information on different aspects that will contribute to their quality of life. Expansion Management Chief Editor Bill King, a retired U.S. Army officer who understands family life in a military community, is the publication's creator and editor.
