Cuban Jazz group entertains music lovers at Lok Virsa.

ISLAMABAD -- Music lovers from twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi were enthralled here at Lok Virsa by thrilling performances of the Cuban artists.

The musical event was arranged on Friday under the auspices of Ministry of National Heritage and Integration and Embassy of the Republic of Cuba.

Cuban Jazz group A3 comprising, Alberto Batista Hernandez (drums), Ana Maria caluff Oropesa (piano) and Ariel Jorge Perez Caballero (trombone) presented a beautiful fusion of jazz and local musical trends to create a vibrant musical saga.

The trio known as A3 mixes jazz with traditional Latin and Cuban rhythms to create a music that delights the music lovers.

Introducing the group, Ariel Jorge Perez Caballero, an award-winning trombonist said all our names start with A and that is how we came up with A3 Ariel, Ana and Alberto.

A3 plays all kinds of genres but focuses mainly on Cuban music as it is easy to mix specific sounds having complete musical knowhow. The group uses trombone as the main instrument, along with the piano and drums.

Caballero describes music as a universal language, capable of blending all cultural rhythm. Together, the trio has found a way to complement each other and deliver high-energy performances.

Talking to this scribe, Lok Virsa executive director Khalid Javaid said,the present initiative aimed at acquainting the people of Pakistan about the culture and musical traditions of Cuba.

Lok Virsa has always tried to bring the glimpses of cultures of the friendly countries to Pakistan besides preserving and projecting our own culture, he added.

He thanked the Cuban Embassy for selecting the venue of Lok Virsa Heritage Museum for the performances by their artists.

A large number audience including diplomats attended the show. The Cuban band is currently teaching at the National College of Arts in Lahore.
