Cruising for a cocktail.

Next summer, the P&J is offering readers the chance to enjoy a spectacular The Best of Norway & The Scottish Isles 10-day cruise, departing from Dundee on June 14 2020.

Cruising and cocktails go hand-in-hand, and it seemed only fair that as someone with a keen interest in food and drink, I should volunteer to board the cruise ship Magellan and sample for myself, some of the food and drink readers can look forward to enjoying during the relaxing and inspiring cruise.

It's a tough job, I agree, but someone had to do it...

In the ship's classy Sinatra lounge bar, bar manager Atanas Petkov ably assisted by barmen Gabriel Sequira and Machhenera Nike, quickly made four delicious cocktails to sample.

Atanas kindly shares the recipes for these below and all of them are very easy to recreate at home.

My favourite was the classic dry martini which had a real kick to it and would make a perfect pre-dinner drink.

I loved the bright colour of the tequila sunrise while the fruity flavours would make it nice to sip while the sun set over the horizon.

The Pimm's cocktail was refreshing - a nice one to sip while sunbathing on the deck perhaps - and the non-alcoholic Colibri had layers of colour, lots of flavour and won't give you a hangover!

CLASSIC DRY MARTINI Ingredients Serves 1 4cl gin 2cl Martini dry 3 green olives Directions Pour one scoop of ice in a cocktail shaker and add the two spirits and olives.

Shake gently until the ingredients cool then gently pour into a chilled martini glass.

Decorate with three olives on a cocktail stick.

TEQUILA SUNRISE Ingredients Serves 1 4cl tequila 20cl orange juice Splash of grenadine (around 1cl) Slice of orange and cocktail cherry Directions Pour the tequila into a highball glass then fill up, not quite to the top, with the orange juice.

Pour the grenadine gently down the inside of the glass.

Serve with a slice of orange and a cocktail cherry.

PIMM'S COCKTAIL Ingredients Serves 1 4cl Pimm's Sprite lemonade A cocktail cherry, or perhaps some orange slices and strawberries Directions Pour the shot of Pimm's into a tall highball glass.

Gently place the fruits in the glass.

Top up with Sprite.

COLIBRI (NON-ALCOHOLIC) Ingredients Serves 1 20cl orange juice 20cl pineapple juice 2cl Grenadine Coca Cola A slice of fresh orange and a cocktail cherry Directions Pop a few ice cubes into the bottom of a hurricane glass.

Pour the grenadine on top and let it settle. Meanwhile, mix the orange and pineapple juice together and gently pour over the iced grenadine.

Do this very gently to ensure the colours don't mix.

Gently top up with Coca Cola. Decorate with a slice of orange and a cocktail cherry.
