Royal Caribbean has sailed away with the glory in this year's people's cruise 'Oscars'.
The 2018 Cruise Critic UK Cruisers' Choice Awards are based on UK reviews posted to its website and cover three ship sizes - Large (2,000+ passengers), Mid-Size (1,200 to 1,999) and Small (under 1,200).
And it was Royal Caribbean that stole the show with seven wins in total as its mega-ship Oasis of the Seas took Large Best Overall, Best Entertainment and Best Shore Excursions, plus Best for First Timers across all sizes.
Celebrity Cruises landed Large Best Embarkation and Best Public Rooms, along with Best for Families across all sizes, while Norwegian Spirit won the coveted Best Dining and Best for Value.
In the Mid-Size category Marella Cruises, formerly Thomson, was a big winner with Marella Spirit grabbing Best Overall, Best Service, Best for Value and Best Shore Excursions. Fred Olsen's Balmoral took a bow with Best Entertainment.
Hurtigruten's newest ship, the Spitsbergen, starred in the Small sector, winning Best Overall, Best Cabins, Best Service, Best Shore Excursions and Best for Value.
Viking Ocean Cruises also impressed reviewers in this category with its 2016-launched Viking Sea, which cleaned up Small Best Dining, Best Embarkation and Best Public Rooms.
Cruise Critic's UK chief Adam Coulter said: "Our members play an invaluable role in helping to inform and guide other cruisers and firsttime travellers to find and choose the best cruise ships for their ideal holiday and, indeed, we couldn't have this authoritative awards programme without them."
