The UK's favourite Royal Caribbean ship is getting a very British flavour when she she homeports in Southampton in May 2018. Independence of the Seas will feature all-new eatery Fish & Ships as part of her multi-million pound makeover.
Located by the new Splashaway Bay water park, it will feature favourite seaside treats including, of course, cod and chips. There will also be the Sugar Beach Candy & Ice Cream Store with a range of sweet treats and family-friendly activities for wannabe bakers.
Also new for 3,600-passenger Indy is Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade, where passengers can follow the match action from around the world on 30 giant TVs while tucking into wings, shrimp, mini-burgers and fries - all helped down by ice cold beers on tap.
royalcaribbean.co.uk | |Virgin Voyages has released a first taster of how its new ships will look when they debut on the ocean in 2020 - and it's stunning, writes Flavia Gray in Genoa.
The show-stopping designs were unveiled by Virgin Group boss Sir Richard Branson at the Fincantieri shipyard as he celebrated the laying of the keel for the first of the line's three vessels.
Sir Richard and cruise line chief Tom McAlpin arrived on stage from a 200ft crane drop in typically flamboyant Virgin style. "She will be the most recognisable ship sailing the seven seas, delivering an irresistible sailor experience," said Sir Richard.
He also revealed the ship will be 'Adult By Design' for over-18s looking for a premium experience with a few Virgin-style surprises. She will feature a distinct livery, a sleek silvery-grey hull, smoked glass and, of course touches of red.
Virgin Voyages' first fleet will be known as the 'Lady Ships', with a mermaid design on the bow. virginvoyages.com
