Crucial meeting to save bus service.

A crunch meeting was due to be held today in a bid to save a bus service from Merthyr Tydfil to Swansea.

Stagecoach says the X75 service is no longer viable but gave the service a stay of execution amid public protest and a campaign spearheaded by Merthyr and Rhymney AM Huw Lewis. Representatives of Merthyr, Neath and Port Talbot and Swansea local authorities were meeting with Stagecoach today for talks.

Meanwhile, following Stagecoach's plan to withdraw their X55 Aberdare to Swansea service from April 22, busman Clayton Jones has applied to registernbsp; services to Swansea from April 24.

Pick-up points listed for the service starting from Pontypridd bus station are: Newtown, Mountain Ash, Cwmbach, Aberdare Bus Station, Penywaun, Hirwaun, Glynneath, Neath, and Swansea Bus Station.
