The improved, patented Model DB Series crosshead is available with a fixed or adjustable center tapered manifold and head body that can extrude one or two layers of material. Features of the taper design crosshead are said to include pressure or sleeving (tubing) tools can be used; the manifold will accept the company's style or taper type tips or guiders; various body diameter dies can be used; minimal parts; spare parts are interchangeable and readily available; gum space or tip and die relationship can be set or moved longitudinally; and user/ operator-friendly operation. This unit is said to be adaptable to all types of extruders, with mm or inch dimensions. The DB Series is adaptable for most thermoset and thermoplastic materials with a core or conductor range up to 1-1/2" (36 mm). Long term benefits are said to include material savings due to concentricity improvements; zero low wall rejects when diameter is held; and rapid tool change.
