Crooked thieves grapple pensioner.

An 80-year-old man was put in a headlock and beaten around the body by conmen posing as water board officials.

One of the smartly-dressed crooks - both were wearing suits - attacked the pensioner at his home in Hallam Street, West Bromwich, as the second conman scoured the house for cash and valuables at 1pm yesterday.

The pensioner managed to free himself and run for help.

Police described the crooks as white, 6ft, slim with short dark hair and Irish accents. Witnesses can contact police at West Bromwich on 0121 626 9000.
