Critics are going dotty for Dot.

DOT ALLISON has survived a near-fatal car crash and record label apathy to return with her best album to date.

The former One Dove singer plays King Tut's in Glasgow tomorrow and showcases tunes from her second solo album, We Are Science.

The 32-year-old Edinburgh singer came back after a near-fatal car crash in 1995 which left her in a wheelchair for months.

She said: "I'm quite a positive person. That wasn't going to beat me. I was lucky because I walked away from it."

She got into dance music in Glasgow and the famous Black Market club run by the Slam DJs. Her solo debut album, Afterglow, was released in 1999 but failed to make an impact. But We Are Science is getting huge critical backing.

Dot, who is dating Richard Fearless from Death In Vegas, said: "It is the darkest music I've done."
