Criteria for loan deferment.
Summary: Bank customer wants to know how to get a loan payment deferred, but can't get a clear answer
Criteria for loan deferment
I want to make a complaint about Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) because it's been more than seven months now that I've been trying to apply for a loan deferment, but every time, the bank says that I'm not on the list. They keep telling me to call the bank when the new list comes and I've been getting this answer for seven months now. The bank is calling me every day, saying that because I've been a very good customer and I'm eligible to take a top-up loan, it will just take five minutes. How can I be eligible to take a loan, but not be eligible for a simple loan deferment? I asked SCB what their criteria is in choosing who's eligible for a loan deferment, but nobody can give me an answer.
SCB should be clear with their requirements in all their products and services. All I want is a clear response on the requirements of how they are choosing their list.
I hope Gulf News can help me and all the customers of SCB who are also struggling to get a loan deferment from this bank.

The management of Standard Chartered Bank responds:
Upon receiving the complaint, Standard Chartered Customer Care Unit contacted the client and informed him of the bank's policy, terms and conditions of the personal loan and its relation to the deferment. The issue is considered closed from our end.
