Criminals 'clued up' by TV cop shows.

TV COP shows are giving crooks too many clues about how police crack cases, one of the north west's top officers has said.

Steve Finnigan, acting chief constable of Lancashire police, said crime dramas like Waking The Dead and The Bill gave away so many techniques that it was becoming harder and harder to catch offenders.

Mr Finnigan, 48, from Merseyside, said the dramas - many of which use former policemen as advisers - dropped so many hints about how cases were investigated that crooks were getting wise to them.
