Guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth, but I'm concerned (maybe incensed) about the waste/inefficiency/fraud going on ("Prosthetics Perils," May PN).

I recently got an Invacare FDX via the Wichita, Kan., VA, I can buy this chair online for about $20,000, and the local mobility store will sell me the same chair for $18,000.

I got my notice of payment from Medicare and my gap insurance that shows they paid $39,000! That is perhaps criminal and enough overage to pay for another chair.

Then we are told there aren't enough funds to meet the needs.
