Australian left hander Simon Katich scored a brilliant 143 not out to frustrate Yorkshire's error prone attack on the second day of their Frizzell County Championship match against Hampshire at Scarborough.

Katich rescued the visitors from the depths of 96 for five with the 19th century of his first-class career and his second of the season for Hampshire.

His chanceless innings, spanning four-and-a-half hours, contained 20 fours and a six from 194 balls.

Earlier, Yorkshire had resumed on 326 for five but Simon Guy was an early casualty and Yuvraj Singh could not organise the tail, making 26 before his exit and Yorkshire faded to 384 all out.
