Cricket: Taibu grabs Zims a point.

Byline: Ed Hawkins

Zimbabwe managed to earn a crucial bonus point despite suffering a 46-run defeat against South Africa at

Canterbury yesterday in the NatWest Series, writes Ed Hawkins.

All three sides are level

after a late cameo from Tatendu Taibu got them to the required 217.

Apart from that they were soundly beaten. South Africa all-rounder Jacques Kallis struck his second ton in two days to set up his side's win.

After a run charge engineered by Kallis, who struck an unbeaten 125, his highest one-day score, South Africa posted a competitive total of 272 for five from their 50 overs.

Travis Friend gave Zimbabwe hope with 82 from 93 balls but after his dismissal they lost momentum and

finished on 226 for nine.

NatWest Series - Skybet: 4-6 South Africa, 6-5 England, 14 Zimbabwe.
