Cricket: Moseley blow as Vaughn missing.

Byline: By Nick Pullen

MOSELEY will be missing their overseas player Vaughn van Jaarsveld when they face Coventry on Saturday in a crunch relegation match.

The Shirley-based side are fighting to maintain their top-flight status in the Birmingham League and can ill afford to be without van Jaarsveld The South African signed a two-year deal with Warwickshire during the summer, but was then prevented from playing for the Bears through international red tape.

Moseley skipper Jason Robinson insisted there had been no bust-up with van Jaarsveld and said: "He suddenly announced that he was going home early.

"It came as a bit of a surprise and clearly we are disappointed with his decision.

"Vaughn claimed he had matters to sort out in South Africa but there was no ill feeling over his departure.

"He plans to get married shortly and take up Portuguese citizenship."

Moseley will also be without pace bowler Jay Webster in Coventry after the club imposed a two-match ban on him, following an incident involving Robinson during a recent game against Knowle and Dorridge.
