Creative Ships Complete CD Recording Upgrade Kit Designed For The General Consumer

SINGAPORE, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Creative Technology Ltd. (Nasdaq: CREAF), the leading provider of multimedia products for personal computers, today announced that it has begun shipping Blaster CD-R(TM) 4210, a complete upgrade kit for adding CD-Recordable (CD-R) capability to PCs. Blaster CD-R's combination of high-performance hardware, easy-to-use software and simple installation make it an ideal choice for everybody from experienced professionals to casual home users. Blaster CD-R is available immediately through Creative's extensive network of distributors at an estimated street price of $699.

"We designed Blaster CD-R to make recording technology accessible to everyone interested in making their own CDs," said Craig McHugh, vice president and general manager at Creative Labs, Inc. "With Blaster CD-R, PC users of a wide range of interests and experience levels -- home users, corporate users, multimedia producers or musicians, and more -- can explore this powerful medium and all it has to offer."

Blaster CD-R 4210 Benefits

Blaster CD-R incorporates a plug and play design that when coupled with Creative's world-class quality and support turn a PC into a powerful recording tool for an almost unlimited number of uses. Corporate users can archive sales data for distribution worldwide, or use multimedia authoring software to create demos or presentations that cannot fit on diskette. Developers and artists can deliver material to service bureaus or customers quickly, reliably, and inexpensively. Blaster CD-R also has a wide variety of home applications, including storage of home videos; creation of multimedia albums with photography, graphic images or favorite downloads from the Web; compilations of favorite songs or musical collections; sending of greeting cards with narrated audio messages that include video and graphics; and much more.

A Complete Plug and Play Solution

Designed to be powerful enough for demanding professional use, yet as easy to install and use as a traditional Creative Labs multimedia upgrade kit, Blaster CD-R 4210 includes an internal, 2x write / 4x read CD-R drive with a caddyless front-loading design, a Plug and Play SCSI-2 interface card, and Adaptec's Easy-CD Pro software. Easy-CD Pro runs under Windows 3.1, Windows 95 or Windows NT, and features drag-and-drop support, an intuitive interface that's instantly understandable by CD-R novices, and the ability to create CD- ROMs, audio CDs, or mixed-mode CDs containing both computer data and digital audio. An illustrated installation guide and blank CD-R media complete the package, which is backed up by Creative's seven-day-a-week service and support.

"Creative and Adaptec have the same goal of furthering access to CD recordable technology by making it simple and fun to use," said Tom Shea, Managing Director of Software for Adaptec. "Our combined areas of expertise have brought together the perfect CD-R solution for the general consumer."
