Cravens Award recogizes Huntsville member's passion for NCMA.
NCMA is pleased to announce Doyle McBride of the Huntsville Chapter as the recipient of the prestigious James E. Cravens Membership Award for the 2004-2005 program year.
The Cravens Award is bestowed to a member who exemplifies outstanding membership accomplishments during the past NCMA program year, particularly in the area of membership recruitment and retention.
As vice president of membership of the Huntsville, Alabama, chapter, McBride is credited with personally developing and promoting a membership drive that had dramatic results. The effort resulted in the addition of 91 members, increasing the membership by 21.6% to roughly 500 members.
To encourage his chapter to boost its numbers, McBride created a membership contest, the winner of which won an all-expense paid trip to Music City USA in Nashville, Tennessee.
McBride's enthusiasm for the chapter is widely recognized; members recently named him the recipient of the 2004-2005 Chapter President's Award.
"He's done a wonderful job," said Brad Atkins, a past chapter president who nominated McBride for the Cravens Award. "Not only does he promote membership in every meeting, but he's always quick to volunteer, take action, and follow through on whatever comes his way."
A graduate of Auburn University, McBride has more than 15 years of experience in the government contracting industry. He serves in a program management role for the Pace and Waite Division of COLSA Corporation, located in Huntsville.
McBride has been a member of NCMA since 1992 and has served in the past as co-chair of the Awards Committee and Small Business Committee. He currently holds the position of executive vice president.
