Crackdown against sale of smuggled items starts.

Islamabad-Karachi -- Customs department has started country wide operation against sale of smuggled goods, conducted raids on different shops in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi and recovered smuggled items worth million of rupees.

Sources said finance minister had issued directives to take stringent steps to curb smuggling which was causing huge loss to the national exchequer. Smuggling of tyre, tea, petrol and diesel was causing loss running into billion of rupees to national kitty.

Under the directives of Director Customs Intelligence Lahore Mukarram Jaah, a customs team led by Superintendent Rauf Farooqui conducted raids in different areas of Lahore vegetable market and recovered 912 LCDs and 80 Tyres,
