Crack den is closed by courts.

A CRACK house which had become the bane of residents in Stockton has been closed by police.

Teesside magistrates have ordered 1 Durham Road to be boarded up in a bid to stop an escalating drug problem.

The tenant who was renting the property had been ordered out the previous day.

Cleveland Police have been watching the property for months after scores of complaints from local residents about the amount of visitors to the house.

Complaints about anti-social behaviour have also been made.

PC Tony Snow of Cleveland Police said: "There were lots of people coming every night, some of them fromas far as Durham.

"The residents living nearby have had lots of problems with this house. They are happy it has been sorted out."

One Durham Road resident said: "I am so relieved that he's finally out because there were people going in and out there all night.

"All the neighbours wanted him out.

There used to be kids going round there for drugs - if someone gave my grandkid drugs I would end up in jail for murder."
