Coyote Point Targets F5 Networks With ''Equal Value'' Trade-In Program; F5 Customers Receive Credit on New Equalizer SI Series Systems Equivalent to ''eBay'' Price of Existing F5 Equipment.

BALTIMORE -- Coyote Point Systems, Inc., announced its new EqualValue F5 Trade-In Program for existing F5 Networks customers. Challenging F5's domination of the Web performance market, Coyote Point is offering discounts on its new Equalizer SI Series equal to the listed "eBay" price of F5 equipment.

For as little as one-fourth the price of comparable F5 Layer 4-7 traffic management systems, Coyote Point's new Equalizer SI Series systems provide 100 percent of the core load balancing and traffic management functionality required by mainstream Web sites and server farms. Existing F5 customers can receive a credit of, for example, $895 by exchanging an F5 Big/IP-HA+ pair in favor of a comparable Equalizer SI 250SI HA pair.

"Our EqualValue F5 Trade-In Program was born from requests we get every day," said Bill Kish, CEO/CTO of Coyote Point Systems. "Our sales staff receive a steady stream of calls from administrators stunned by sticker shock after calling F5 to replace aging F5 hardware. Coyote Point's goal has always been to get affordable Layer 4-7 traffic management into the hands of as many people as possible. We see this as an opportunity to help keep the Internet running at peak efficiency, while saving ISPs the considerable expense of a new F5 support contract and the notorious complexities and headaches of wading through F5's complicated sales and support policies."

"Load balancing customers have always paid a premium for the most or the newest features, but over time even value-conscious offerings have become full-featured by recent standards," said Peter Christy, Principal of Internet Research Group, a Silicon Valley analyst organization that has tracked the server load balancing and traffic management market since its inception. "In the end, load balancers are software applications running on similar hardware, so spending more money with the incumbent vendor to get features you don't need and aren't going to use isn't obviously the right purchase decision. ISPcon provides a perfect venue for Coyote Point to howl a little about how its 2,000-plus customers have saved thousands of dollars by buying only what they really need."

Coyote Point's new Equalizer SI Series Web server performance optimization appliances are built to address the core availability and performance requirements of mainstream Web sites and server farms. The new Equalizer SI Series systems integrate an enhanced version of Coyote Point's adaptive server load balancing and traffic management software, consolidated switch intelligence, and the latest Intel processor-based performance.

Equalizer SI Series systems deliver a range of advanced and highly adaptive server/network load balancing and cluster management capabilities for datacenter environments that require the high-end reliability, performance and scalability of "big iron" servers with the low, incremental cost of ownership now possible with today's commodity servers.

Coyote Point's new Equalizer SI Series family includes the enterprise-class E450si, mid-range E350si, and entry-level E250si. New features and enhancements include:

--Consolidated switching capacity of up to 16 ports with managed intelligence for integrated datacenter front end topologies

--Support for up to 8,000,000 concurrent connections with wire-speed throughput

--Incrementally scalable load balancing and traffic management for an unlimited number of virtual servers and up to 64 servers per cluster

--Adaptive protection against massive Denial of Service (DoS) attacks

--Built-in flash memory for zero-downtime reliability

--Enhanced SSL acceleration for up to 4,000 encrypted transactions per second

--Expanded "match rules" to provide additional content switching options

--Enhanced Web interface for point-and-click operation of configuration options

Equalizer SI Series systems are based on Version 8 of Coyote Point's Traffic Acceleration Engine, a high-performance kernel-level network performance platform that ensures non-stop reliability, availability and scalability. Additional features for global server load balancing, SSL acceleration and upcoming enhancements from Coyote Point can be added incrementally to any Equalizer SI Series appliance.

Coyote Point's EqualValue F5 Trade-In Program -- Pricing & Availability

When purchasing a new Coyote Point Equalizer SI Series system, qualified customers can receive a trade-in credit equal to the equivalent "eBay" value of their F5 system. Evaluation and conditional purchase orders are subject to the trade-in credit beginning immediately through June 30, 2005. This offer is not available through Coyote Point distribution or resale partners at this time. A fully configured Equalizer E450si system with advanced server/network load balancing and Layer 4-7 content switching for unlimited virtual clusters with up to 64 servers per cluster and equipped with SSL acceleration and global server load balancing is priced at $13,700. An entry-level E250si appliance with core server load balancing functionality is priced beginning at just $3,995.
